Blade Dynamics has specifically developed technology or use offshore. The largest and highest performance blades ever constructed are currently under development at the company.
Lightweight offshore blades longer than 100m can be made that will perform reliably for 20 years. This can enable next-generation offshore turbines with much larger rotors to deliver energy at a lower cost. The cost reduction potential comes both from increasing the effectiveness of the rotor and from the greatly increased size of turbine that can be installed on each foundation. The company is presently working on high performance 7MW offshore blades and also on blades for much larger turbines.

Traditional coating technology cannot protect offshore blades for long service intervals without a large drop in performance. BladeShield technology is designed to work offshore for long periods of uninterrupted high performance. Initial testing suggests that little or no maintenance will be required on the blade surface during the lifetime of the blade.
Blades feature state of the art, proprietary lightning protection. New technology will be introduced onto the largest offshore blades that further enhances reliability and performance in the harshest and most inaccessible locations.
